Tucked in the heart of Belfast city with sheer elegance of Georgian architecture, the house surrounded by serene landscaped garden dates back to 1774 when the Belfast Charitable Society founded it as Belfast’s First Poor House. Till late 1880, the Poor House acted as hospital and nursing home for senior citizens but now it operates as a sophisticated event venue. From meetings to conferences, exhibitions to workshops, AGMs to receptions and gala dinner, the Clifton House in the center of the city is sought after by numerous public-sector and private organizations of Northern Ireland.

Clifton House Tour
On every Friday of the year, the Clifton House tours commence from 3 PM and continue for an hour depending on the general group size. Besides, on last Fridays of every month, there is the graveyard tour at close vicinity of the house. During the European Heritage Days, the tours continue for more than one hour with special events. The Interpretative Center will be the first stop of the tour where visitors will get to see huge collection of the artifacts and antiques. Many of the exhibits date back to the early days of Clifton House, then Poor House in 1774.
Overlooking the inner courtyard, the Archive Room is the most unique part of Clifton House Tour where audience will learn about the history of the building as well as its contribution to Belfast’s developmental years. The archives stored in Clifton House are as old as from 1752 and the information denotes to developmental stages of Belfast Town to Belfast City and Belfast Charitable Society. From family history to life story of academic researchers, the archives will be interesting to audience. It also acts as meeting space for training sessions, interviews and small meetings
With panoramic city views, the spacious boardroom features many original features including historic portraits and artifacts within atmospheric venue. According to events, the room can be set up in Boardroom Style for 24 delegates sitting around antique boardroom table, Theatre style for sixty people sitting for lectures, AGMs or launches and Cabaret style for 50 people sitting on round tables for wedding receptions, dining, conferences etc. The Committee Room adjacent to it acts as a break-out space.
